Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has officially completed a season-long loan move to Spanish giants Barcelona, marking a significant chapter in the England international’s career. The agreement includes an option for Barcelona to make the deal permanent in 2026 for a fee of €35 million (£30.3m).
The 27-year-old, who has spent his entire professional career at Manchester United, will be experiencing football outside the Premier League for the first time. Rashford has agreed to a pay cut, allowing Barcelona to cover the full cost of his wages during his time in Catalonia. The move is expected to relieve Manchester United’s wage bill by an estimated £14–15 million over the next 12 months.
Rashford trained with his new teammates for the first time on Tuesday and is expected to be part of the Barcelona squad travelling to Japan for their pre-season tour later this week.
This loan represents Rashford’s second temporary spell away from Manchester United since he last featured for the club in December 2024. A product of United’s academy, Rashford made his senior debut in 2016 and has gone on to make 426 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 138 goals — placing him 15th on the club’s all-time goalscoring list.
