Matchday Fever

Everton have shifted their transfer window into overdrive, submitting a bid for Lyon livewire Malick Fofana and agreeing a deal to sign left-back Adam Aznou from Bayern Munich—as manager David Moyes looks to overhaul his squad ahead of a new chapter at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The Toffees have already welcomed Thierno Barry, Mark Travers, and made Charly Alcaraz’s deal permanent—but Moyes isn’t done yet. Not even close. The boss recently admitted he’s aiming to bring in up to 10 more players this summer—and the left flank is next in line for a major glow-up.

Done Deal: Adam Aznou Signs from Bayern

First up, the blue half of Merseyside has locked in a move for 19-year-old Moroccan full-back Adam Aznou. Everton and Bayern have agreed a €9m fee (potentially rising to €12m with add-ons), and final documents are being exchanged.

Aznou is set to undergo his medical within 48 hours, and while Bayern have secured a matching clause for future bids, his immediate future lies in royal blue. Born in Barcelona and capped by Morocco, the versatile left-back is ready to step into the spotlight.

Bid in for Fofana: Everton Go Big for Belgian Flier

At the same time, Everton have gone official in their pursuit of Malick Fofana, submitting a formal bid for the electric Lyon winger. The 20-year-old Belgian international, who debuted for the Red Devils in October 2024, is in advanced talks with Everton over personal terms.

The Toffees have long admired Fofana, and with interest from across the Premier League—including rivals Liverpool—this move sends a strong signal about their ambitions.

Who is Malick Fofana?

Quick-footed and fearless, Fofana rose through the ranks at Gent before landing a move to Lyon in 2024. He’s bagged 11 goals in the 2024–25 season, impressing in Ligue 1 and the Europa League, and ranks in the 97th percentile for progressive carries per 90 minutes among Ligue 1 wingers.

“He’s a risk-taker,” Lyon boss Pierre Sage said. “In a game against Frankfurt, he sprinted nearly 400 metres—that’s enormous.”

He’s been lighting up the left wing, but the right-footed dribbler can operate across the frontline. With blistering pace, improved finishing, and sky-high potential, Fofana could be Everton’s most exciting signing of the Friedkin era.

Moyes’ Masterplan Taking Shape

While Jack Grealish had been loosely linked, the cost of a deal never quite aligned with Everton’s budget strategy. Enter Fofana—cheaper, younger, hungrier, and a perfect fit for Moyes’ high-energy, high-intensity vision.

Meanwhile, youngster Harrison Armstrong is being tracked by Championship clubs, while talks continue over Douglas Luiz of Juventus and La Liga star Takefusa Kubo.
