Matchday Fever

Barrow have made a shrewd swoop, snapping up experienced winger Tom Barkhuizen on a two-year deal — and he’s bringing a suitcase full of EFL know-how with him.

The 32-year-old wide man, who was a free agent after leaving Derby County this summer, becomes the latest addition to Andy Whing’s growing squad as the Bluebirds plot another push up the table.

“He’s had a fantastic career to date at a higher level,” said Whing. “And he’s as ambitious as we are to help move the club forward.”

From Seasiders to the Bluebirds

Barkhuizen’s journey through the English Football League has been anything but dull. He started out at Blackpool, impressed at Morecambe, turned heads at Preston North End, and most recently spent three solid seasons with Derby County.

Now, he’s heading to Holker Street — and Barrow fans will be hoping his pace and experience light up the flanks in League Two.

Proven Pedigree, New Challenge

At 32, Barkhuizen brings a calm head, an eye for goal, and the kind of Championship-level pedigree that’s hard to come by at this level. And with Whing building a side full of intent, this signing feels like more than just adding depth — it’s a statement.

Keep your eyes on Barrow. With Barkhuizen in the squad, they’ve just added a proven spark.
