Matchday Fever

Cambridge United have landed striker Louis Appéré from League One side Stevenage, with the 26-year-old forward joining the U’s for an undisclosed fee — and a fresh start in League Two.

Appéré, who will wear the number nine shirt, made 20 appearances during a single season at Boro, having previously helped Northampton Town earn promotion in 2023 after a stint with Dundee United.

Now, he’s ready to make his mark at the Abbey Stadium.

“I’m delighted to be here,” Appéré said. “I needed a fresh start and I’m really happy it’s all sorted. The manager made it clear he’s been watching me for a while, and one of the best feelings as a player is knowing you’re wanted.”

“I feel great — I’ve had a good pre-season, been training, playing games… I’m good to go.”

Neil Harris Gets His Man

U’s boss Neil Harris has been hunting for the right forward all summer — and finally got his target.

“We’ve had to stay patient,” Harris said. “But I’m really pleased to bring Louis in to add to our attack.”

Harris praised Appéré as a hard-working striker with the ability to hold up play, bring others into the game, stretch defences, and most crucially — score goals.

“We believe he still has room to grow as a player, and I’m excited to work with him over the next two seasons.”

Cambridge’s Front Line Gets a Fresh Edge

With the new League Two campaign just around the corner, Appéré adds much-needed experience and energy up top. His track record at Northampton and Dundee United shows he’s no stranger to big moments — and now he’s ready to deliver in U’s colours.

Cambridge fans: keep an eye on the No. 9. This fresh start could be a fruitful one.
