Matchday Fever

Burton Albion have added serious firepower to their front line with the signing of Tyrese Shade from Eastleigh for an undisclosed (but record-breaking) fee.

The 25-year-old forward has penned a two-year deal at the Pirelli Stadium, with the option of a further year — and he’s arriving hot off a stellar season in the National League, where he notched 14 goals in 43 games for the Spitfires.

Boss Gary Bowyer was full of praise:

“Ty comes to us on the back of a great season scoring all types of goals and we know he will excite our fans. He brings pace and power to our front line and we look forward to working with him.”

Shade’s journey has been anything but linear. He started at Solihull Moors, spent four years at Leicester City (including a loan spell at Walsall), moved to Swindon Town, returned briefly to Solihull on loan — and truly hit his stride with Eastleigh last season.

Key Facts:

  • 14 goals in 43 appearances last season
  • Career journey: Solihull ➡️ Leicester ➡️ Walsall ➡️ Swindon ➡️ Eastleigh ➡️ Burton Albion

Burton kick off their Sky Bet League One campaign at home vs Mansfield Town on Saturday, 2 August — and Shade could be the name on everyone’s lips.
