Matchday Fever

Sheffield Wednesday have turned to a familiar face to lead them into the 2024/25 season, appointing Henrik Pedersen as their new first-team manager — and the Danish tactician is wasting no time, taking the reins at Hillsborough with immediate effect.

The club dropped the news on Thursday morning, just days after parting ways with Danny Röhl, who exited less than two weeks before the Championship kicks off.

Who is Henrik Pedersen?

The 49-year-old Dane is no stranger to the Owls. Having joined the coaching staff in 2023, Pedersen was part of the great escape that kept Wednesday up, and helped guide them to a solid mid-table finish last term.

Now, he steps into the top job, bringing with him a suitcase full of experience from Europe.

Denmark – where it all began.
Austria – managed SKN St. Pölten.
Germany – took charge of Eintracht Braunschweig in the 2. Bundesliga.

This is a man who knows how to steady a ship, build from the ground up, and bring bold ideas to the table.

Owls fans, it’s official: a new chapter begins — and it’s written in Danish ink.

What’s Next?

Pedersen’s first test? Just a casual opener away to Leicester City on August 10. No pressure, Henrik.
