Matchday Fever

Derby County have confirmed the signing of striker Rhian Brewster on a two-year contract, following his decision to turn down a new deal at Sheffield United.

The 25-year-old forward, once tipped for stardom, joins the Rams on a free transfer and becomes the club’s third attacking addition of the summer — following the arrivals of Carlton Morris and American striker Patrick Agyemang.

From Record Signing to New Chapter

Brewster made headlines in 2020 when Sheffield United paid £23.5 million to sign him from Liverpool, making him the Blades’ most expensive signing ever. However, injuries repeatedly stalled his progress during his time at Bramall Lane.

Despite limited minutes, Brewster scored nine goals in 119 appearances across all competitions — with four of his eight Championship goals coming last season, hinting at a potential resurgence in form.

Fresh Start at Pride Park

Derby County boss John Eustace has been eager to bolster his attacking options ahead of the new season, and Brewster’s arrival is seen as a smart, low-risk move with high potential upside.

Once a standout for England’s U21s, Brewster is now hoping to rediscover the form that made him one of the most talked-about young strikers in the country. With regular minutes and a fresh start in the Championship, Derby could be the perfect place for the former Liverpool academy star to reignite his career.
