Luton Town have completed the signing of striker Jerry Yates from Swansea City, securing the prolific forward in a deal believed to be worth a seven-figure sum.
The 28-year-old arrives at Kenilworth Road on an undisclosed contract and becomes the Hatters’ second signing of the day, following the free-agent addition of defender Cohen Bramall.
Championship Experience with Goals to Match
Yates is coming off a solid loan spell with Derby County, where he netted 10 goals in 42 Championship appearances during the 2024/25 season. His blend of movement, grit, and eye for goal has made him a consistent threat across the EFL.
Speaking to the club’s official channels, Yates said:
“It’s a massive club that was in the Premier League just two seasons ago. Now’s the time to get Luton climbing back up the divisions.”
From Rotherham Roots to Hatter Hopeful
A product of Rotherham United, Yates has had notable stints at Carlisle United, Swindon Town, and Blackpool, where he banged in 23 goals during the 2020/21 campaign and was named League One’s PFA Fans’ Player of the Year.
Manager Matt Bloomfield on the Signing
Luton boss Matt Bloomfield couldn’t hide his excitement:
“This is a massive signing for us. Jerry is a seasoned pro with a proven track record in both the Championship and League One.
He had options to stay in the Championship, but he’s bought into our vision and who we are as a club. We want him to lead our line — and he’s hungry to deliver.”
