Matchday Fever

PSV Eindhoven have officially confirmed the signing of highly-rated 18-year-old midfielder Sol Sidibe from Stoke City, with the youngster putting pen to paper on a contract that runs until June 2029.

The Dutch giants reportedly beat out stiff competition from several Premier League clubs to secure Sidibe’s signature. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the England youth international was swayed by PSV’s long-term project and development pathway.

Rising Star Leaves Stoke for Eredivisie

Sidibe, a product of the Stoke City academy, made 13 senior appearances for the Championship side during the 2023/24 campaign. His last outing came in a 2-1 FA Cup victory over Sunderland.

The talented central midfielder made headlines on the opening day of the 2023/24 season when he became Stoke’s second-youngest league debutant, aged just 16 years and 176 days. Despite the early promise, then-manager Alex Neil opted not to fast-track his development during a difficult season at the bottom end of the table.

Sidibe later impressed under Steven Schumacher, Narcis Pèlach, and Mark Robins, overcoming significant adversity. He missed the second half of the 2024/25 season due to a stress fracture in his lower back, but returned to fitness in time for the final weeks of the campaign. His strong return earned him a call-up to the England youth setup, alongside teammate Jaden Dixon, for the summer.

England Youth International Heads to the Netherlands

Having already represented England at Under-17 and Under-18 level, Sidibe now takes the next step in his career by joining PSV Eindhoven, one of Europe’s top clubs for developing young talent.
