The Hammers have hammered out another smart signing—Callum Wilson is officially claret and blue!

The 33-year-old former Newcastle and Bournemouth striker has signed a one-year contract with West Ham United, adding experience and goals to Graham Potter’s evolving squad.

After parting ways with Newcastle at the end of last season—when contract talks hit a dead end—Wilson hit the free agent market. Despite limited opportunities behind Alexander Isak, he still managed 18 Premier League appearances last term. Now, he’s ready for a fresh challenge in East London.

“I’m excited to be joining a massive football club like West Ham,” said Wilson.
“It’s a club that reflects what I’m all about—hard work, dedication, and a hunger for success. The talent in this squad is real, and with the gaffer now at the helm, everyone’s moving in the same direction. I’m ready to help push us up the table.”

Wilson, who bagged 49 goals in 130 games for Newcastle since his £20m move from Bournemouth in 2020, also earned nine England caps between 2018 and 2023.

Despite interest from other Premier League clubs—and even options from across the pond in Major League Soccer—Wilson chose to stay in the Premier League spotlight with West Ham.

His arrival marks another step in an ambitious summer for the Hammers, who have already landed Jean-Clair Todibo, El Hadji Malick Diouf, Kyle Walker-Peters, and Daniel Cummings. Plus, they’re now eyeing a swoop for Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey.
