Norwich City have agreed a deal to sign Jovon Makama from Lincoln City, with the 21-year-old forward having already completed his medical ahead of a confirmed move to Carrow Road.
The transfer, reportedly worth over £1 million, marks a record sale for Lincoln and continues a busy summer for the Championship club as they reshape their squad under new head coach Liam Manning.
Norwich Back Liam Manning in the Transfer Market
Since arriving from Bristol City, Manning has wasted no time putting his stamp on the Norwich City squad. The Canaries are aiming for promotion back to the Premier League, and Manning’s summer business reflects that ambition. While experienced names like Jeffrey Schlupp and Harry Darling have arrived on free transfers, the club’s focus has been on signing young talent with high ceilings.
The addition of Makama aligns with this strategy. A tall and versatile forward, he joins the likes of Pape Amadou Diallo and Mathias Kvistgaarden as part of Norwich’s youth-driven recruitment push.
Jovon Makama: Rising Star with Championship Potential
Makama is coming off his best season to date, registering 11 goals and six assists in 45 appearances for Lincoln in the 2024/25 campaign. Although he has primarily operated as a striker, the youngster found his most effective form playing as a right-sided inside forward, particularly during a standout March run where he notched five goals and three assists in just four games.
A product of Derby County’s youth setup before moving to Lincoln, Makama gained valuable senior experience on loan at Gainsborough Trinity and Brackley Town, gradually earning his place in the Imps’ first team. His 97 senior appearances at just 21 years old underscore his maturity and readiness for the next level.
His absence from Lincoln’s opening day victory over Reading was explained after the club confirmed an accepted offer from Norwich, paving the way for his Carrow Road switch.
A Development Project with Big Upside
While Makama may not yet be the finished product, Norwich City see him as a high-upside prospect who can grow under Liam Manning’s guidance. His blend of physicality, technical ability, and tactical versatility makes him a perfect fit for the club’s evolving style of play.
With the move now all but confirmed, Norwich fans can expect to see Makama add energy, depth, and future value to the attacking line as the Canaries look to mount a serious challenge for promotion in the Championship.
