Everton have reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in a deal worth approximately £28 million, bringing a key midfield reinforcement to Goodison Park ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League season.
Transfer Details
The transfer comprises an initial fee of £24 million, with a further £3–4 million in performance-based add-ons. Dewsbury-Hall is now set to undergo a medical and finalise personal terms, despite late interest from Fulham, who had also submitted a formal approach in recent days.
The 26-year-old was initially hesitant to leave Stamford Bridge after just one season, having played a supporting role during a campaign in which Chelsea lifted both the FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Conference League, and secured Champions League qualification.
However, Chelsea remained open to a sale, aiming to recoup most of the £30 million they paid to Leicester City in 2024—when Dewsbury-Hall reunited with his former manager Enzo Maresca.
A New Chapter for Dewsbury-Hall
Although his minutes were limited last season, Dewsbury-Hall remains highly rated and is determined to find regular football to boost his chances of making the England squad for the 2026 World Cup. At Everton, he’s expected to play a much more central role under David Moyes, bringing creativity, stamina, and Premier League experience to the midfield.
Chelsea Continue Squad Restructuring
The move comes amid a busy period of outgoings at Chelsea, as the club aims to trim a bloated squad and balance its books after a high-spending window. On Sunday, the Blues confirmed the arrival of Dutch defender Jorrel Hato from Ajax, but several departures are now in motion:
- Lesley Ugochukwu has agreed to join Burnley
- Talks are also advanced between Burnley and Chelsea over striker Armando Broja
- Borussia Dortmund have reopened negotiations for midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka
Chelsea’s evolving midfield picture has influenced Dewsbury-Hall’s exit, with more arrivals expected in the coming weeks.
Everton’s Other Transfer Targets
Everton have also been in talks with Southampton over a deal for 19-year-old winger Tyler Dibling, but sources suggest the Toffees may walk away from the deal if the Saints’ valuation doesn’t drop after a second bid was turned down.
Speaking at the Premier League Summer Series, manager David Moyes hinted at more transfer activity, saying:
“I think there’ll be deals next week. I think we’re getting much closer, but I felt that four or five weeks ago as well.
Obviously, we’re getting near the tickly bits and we’ve got to get some things done.”
Stay tuned as Everton close in on Dewsbury-Hall, with medical and contract formalities expected to be completed within days. His arrival could signal a turning point in their summer business—and a significant boost to their midfield quality.
