Bury Football Club have extended a heartfelt gesture of support to Morecambe FC and their fanbase, offering free entry to Morecambe supporters for their upcoming home fixture at Gigg Lane.
With Morecambe currently navigating a period of off-field uncertainty, Bury—who themselves have experienced similar challenges in recent years—have shown solidarity by inviting Shrimps fans to attend their Northern Premier League West opener against Newcastle Town on Saturday, 9th August 2025, free of charge.
The invitation is open to all Morecambe supporters who either show their Morecambe FC season ticket or proudly wear a Morecambe badge or club colours at the turnstiles on matchday.
In a statement, Bury FC expressed empathy and understanding towards Morecambe’s current situation, acknowledging the emotional toll of instability off the pitch. The club said it wanted to offer “a place to feel connected” and a welcoming atmosphere for fans in need of a footballing fix.
“You are not alone,” the statement read. “Whether you’re in need of a temporary football fix, a place to feel connected, or simply want to enjoy a matchday with fellow fans who understand—our gates and hearts are open to you.”
The move has been warmly received across social media, with fans from both clubs praising the show of unity and the spirit of community that football can foster during difficult times.
Kick-off for Bury’s home clash against Newcastle Town is scheduled for 3:00pm at Gigg Lane, with a strong crowd expected as the Shakers begin their new league campaign.
