Blackburn Rovers have continued their summer recruitment drive with the signing of Axel Henriksson from Swedish side GAIS for an undisclosed fee.
The 23-year-old midfielder has penned a four-year deal at Ewood Park, with the club retaining an option for a fifth year, as manager Valerien Ismael looks to bolster his squad ahead of the new Championship campaign.
Henriksson arrives after two impressive seasons in the Swedish top flight, where he made 38 appearances and scored nine goals for the Gothenburg-based club. His dynamic style and ability to contribute in the final third made him a standout performer in the Allsvenskan, attracting attention from clubs across Europe.
He becomes Blackburn’s sixth senior signing of the summer, joining the likes of Lewis Miller, Ryan Alebiosu, Sean McLoughlin, Dion de Neve, and Sidnei Tavares as part of a reshaped squad under Ismael.
Rovers kick off their Championship season this Saturday (15:00 BST) with a trip to West Bromwich Albion.
