Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal have completed the signing of Darwin Núñez from Liverpool in a deal worth €53 million (£46.3m). The 26-year-old Uruguay striker has penned a contract with the Riyadh-based club as part of their ambitious squad rebuild.

Núñez joined Liverpool from Portuguese side Benfica in June 2022 for an initial £64m, scoring 40 goals in 143 appearances for the Reds. Despite his contributions, he featured sparingly during the 2024/25 season, starting just eight Premier League matches as Jürgen Klopp’s side secured the league title.

In a farewell message, Liverpool said: “Everybody at the club would like to thank Darwin for his contributions and wish him and his family all the best for the future.”

His exit could open the door for Liverpool to move for Sweden striker Alexander Isak, with Newcastle United having already rejected an initial bid of £110m from the Anfield club.
