Jack Grealish is set to undergo a medical later today before joining Everton on loan for the 2025/26 season.
A deal between the Toffees and Manchester City has now been agreed with Grealish set to have his medical before the transfer is completed. The 29-year-old England international has fallen out of favour under Pep Guardiola and could be set for a fresh start at Goodison Park.
Grealish was left out of City’s squad for their final Premier League game against Fulham, as well as the Club World Cup in the United States. An agreement is not yet finalised, but discussions between the clubs are ongoing.
The midfielder, who reportedly earns £300,000 a week, joined City from Aston Villa in August 2021 for a then-British record fee of £100 million. During his time at the Etihad, Grealish has made over 150 appearances, winning three Premier League titles, the Champions League, and the FA Cup.
However, last season saw a significant drop in his game time — just seven league starts — as Manchester City ended the campaign without a major trophy. He was even benched for the FA Cup final defeat to Crystal Palace, with teenage Argentine star Claudio Echeverri handed a debut instead.
Initially, Grealish was understood to be seeking a permanent transfer in June, ideally to a Champions League club. Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur were linked but have yet to make a concrete offer.
A move to Everton would not bring European football, but it could offer Grealish the perfect platform to revive his career and become a key figure at the club’s new Hill Dickinson Stadium. It would also boost his chances of returning to the England squad, having been left out of Gareth Southgate’s team for Euro 2024 — a decision he admitted left him “heartbroken.”
In other transfer news, Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in talks with Manchester City over the potential signing of Brazil winger Savinho.
