Newcastle United have officially completed the signing of AC Milan centre-back Malick Thiaw, securing the Germany international for a reported £34.6 million including add-ons.

The 24-year-old becomes Eddie Howe’s third summer signing in what has been a challenging transfer window for the Magpies. His arrival follows the addition of winger Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest and the loan capture of goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale from Southampton.

Speaking on his move to St James’ Park, Thiaw said:

“I’m really excited to join this massive club. I can’t wait to start training, meet my new team-mates, and work with the staff.

The gaffer showed me his vision for me as a player and for the club’s future — it’s really exciting. Newcastle speaks for itself: a big club with passionate fans, and I can’t wait to see them at St James’ Park.”

With his defensive strength, aerial presence, and international experience, Thiaw is expected to bolster Newcastle’s backline as they aim for another strong Premier League campaign.
