Morecambe FC have reached a breakthrough takeover agreement, with current owners Bond Group and prospective buyers Panjab Warriors striking a deal aimed at securing the long-term future of the troubled National League side.

The Shrimps have been suspended from the National League and had their first three fixtures postponed due to doubts over their ability to meet financial obligations. This new agreement offers fresh hope to fans and the wider community.

Panjab Warriors had already received EFL approval for a takeover in June, shortly after Morecambe’s relegation from League Two. However, a turbulent summer followed, marked by public intervention from political leaders. Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy wrote to owner Jason Whittingham urging a sale, while Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer called on all parties “to do the right thing.”

In a joint statement, Bond Group and Panjab Warriors said:

“This agreement reflects the willingness of both sides to compromise in the best interests of Morecambe FC, its supporters, and the wider community. It paves the way for stability and a positive future both on and off the pitch.”

The deal will now move to the final legal documentation stage, with immediate notifications to key stakeholders including the National League and the club’s management team.

Both sides expressed gratitude for the patience and support shown throughout the process, adding that they are eager to begin “a new chapter in the club’s history.”
