Crystal Palace have reached an agreement in principle to sign Yeremy Pino from Villarreal in a deal worth up to £26 million.
The 22-year-old Spain international winger is understood to be open to the move and is expected to complete his medical in the coming days before finalising the switch to Selhurst Park.
Villarreal Accept Reduced Fee
Although Pino has a £69m release clause, Villarreal have decided to accept Palace’s offer with less than two years remaining on his contract. The winger made 34 La Liga appearances last season, scoring four goals and helping the Yellow Submarine secure a Champions League place with a fifth-place finish.
Since making his debut in 2020, Pino has established himself as one of Spain’s most exciting young talents. He has also scored three goals in 15 appearances for the Spanish national team since his debut in 2021.
Palace Move After Eze’s Departure
Palace accelerated their move for Pino following the departure of Eberechi Eze to Arsenal in a £60m deal last week. Eze, who played a pivotal role in Palace’s historic FA Cup triumph last season, contributed 14 goals and 11 assists in 43 appearances.
Replacing Eze’s creativity and influence has become a top priority for manager Oliver Glasner, who said after the club’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest that he was “very confident” new signings would arrive before the transfer window closes.
Palace’s Transfer Activity So Far
So far this summer, the Eagles have added only two players with Reiss Nelson pending.
- Walter Benitez, goalkeeper, signed on a free transfer from PSV Eindhoven.
- Borna Sosa, defender, joined from Ajax for £3m.
- Reiss Nelson, Midfielder, joining from Arsenal for 15m.
The club is also pursuing Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji, with the Swiss international valued at £15m.
