Matchday Fever

Sheffield United have completed the signing of experienced striker Danny Ings on a free transfer following his release from West Ham United earlier this summer.

The 33-year-old former England international has signed a one-year deal with the option of an extension, joining the Blades after a short training spell with the squad.

Boost for Sheffield United’s Attack

Currently bottom of the Championship table with three defeats from three games and just one goal scored, Sheffield United are in urgent need of attacking reinforcements. Ings’ arrival adds valuable top-flight experience and depth to the forward line.

Ings’ Recent Career

Ings joined West Ham from Aston Villa in January 2023, but struggled for regular goals in East London. He managed just five goals in 69 appearances for the Hammers, including one in 15 Premier League matches last season.

Despite his recent challenges, Ings has a strong goalscoring pedigree from earlier in his career, with prolific spells at Burnley, Southampton, and Aston Villa.

Ings on Joining Sheffield United

Speaking to the club’s official website, Ings said he had been waiting for the right opportunity to continue his career:

“I’ve been keeping myself fit and waiting for the right chance. I believe this is a great opportunity for me and a chance to progress my career as well.”
