The countdown is on in Paris as the Ballon d’Or 2025 ceremony takes centre stage at the Theatre du Chatelet, where world football’s most prestigious individual award will be handed out tonight.
Leading the race is Paris Saint-Germain star Ousmane Dembele, who has emerged as the favourite after inspiring PSG to a historic quadruple last season – including their long-awaited Champions League triumph. Dembele’s performances have placed him firmly in pole position to lift the Ballon d’Or trophy for the first time.
His biggest rival, however, comes from Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal, who has enjoyed a breakout year with both club and country, shining for Barça and Spain on the biggest stage.
Also in contention are Vitinha and Raphinha, while the Premier League is represented by players such as Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, both making strong cases for recognition.
Although many PSG stars are shortlisted, most will miss the glitzy Paris ceremony after their Ligue 1 clash with Marseille – postponed due to severe weather – was rescheduled for tonight. Dembele, though, is absent from the squad as he continues his recovery from injury, freeing him to attend the awards.
Stay tuned here for Ballon d’Or 2025 live updates, results, and reaction as football’s biggest names battle for the ultimate individual honour.
