Matchday Fever

The fourth-round ties of the Carabao Cup will be played in the week commencing Monday 27 October.

The draw took place this evening, with several lower-league clubs hoping to secure a place in the last 16 against some of the Premier League’s biggest names.

League Two side Grimsby Town remain the lowest-ranked team in the competition after following up their stunning third-round victory over Manchester United with another upset against Sheffield Wednesday.

Wrexham are into the fourth round for the first time since 1977, while Cardiff City, beaten finalists in 2012, also progressed.

Among the top-flight clubs, Liverpool and Chelsea advanced on Tuesday night, although Liverpool boss Arne Slot was left frustrated after Hugo Ekitike’s “stupid” red card.

On Wednesday night, Arsenal progressed against Port Vale, Manchester Coty beat Huddersfield, Tottenham defeated Doncaster and Newcastle pipped Bradford City.
