Truro City forward Ben Starkie could be sidelined for much of the season after suffering a serious hamstring injury.

The 23-year-old Tanzania international was forced off the pitch just three minutes after coming on as a late substitute during Truro’s 1-0 defeat at Brackley Town on Tuesday night.

Starkie, a former Leicester City academy player who joined the National League South side in the summer following a successful trial, is awaiting scan results to determine the full extent of the damage.

“It looks as though he’s going to be out for quite a while,” manager John Askey told BBC Radio Cornwall.
“It’s disappointing, especially for a young lad who has just come into the team. He’d done well in the previous game. We just wish him well and hope he gets back quicker than we expect. It could be up to six months, if not longer.”

The setback comes as another major blow for Truro City, who are already struggling with injuries in attack. Strikers Rekeil Pyke and Tyler Harvey remain sidelined, leaving Askey short of attacking options.
