Leyton Orient have been dealt a major blow after defender Rarmani Edmonds-Green was ruled out for the rest of the season with a serious knee injury.
The 26-year-old centre-back suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee during the final stages of Saturday’s 2–1 win over Doncaster Rovers.
ACL Rupture Likely to End Edmonds-Green’s 2025/26 Campaign
The injury means Edmonds-Green is unlikely to play again this season as he faces a lengthy rehabilitation process.
The defender, affectionately known as REG, has made nine appearances across all competitions for Orient so far this campaign. Richie Wellens’ side currently sit 13th in League One after a steady start to the season.
Head Coach Richie Wellens: “We’re All Gutted for Him”
Speaking to the Leyton Orient club website, head coach Richie Wellens expressed his disappointment at losing one of his key players but promised full support during his recovery:
“REG is a big character in our changing room and around the training ground, and we are all gutted for him.
“He played a hugely important role for us in the second half of last season, having joined us in January, and it’s now vitally important that we all support him.
“He has met with one of sport’s leading knee surgeons and, once he has a spell of rest and his operation, we’ll give him everything he needs to come back fitter and stronger.”
Edmonds-Green Key to Orient’s Defence
Edmonds-Green joined Leyton Orient permanently after an impressive loan spell last season and quickly established himself as a reliable figure in defence. His injury now leaves Wellens with a significant gap to fill at the back as Orient look to climb the League One table.
The club confirmed that Edmonds-Green will undergo surgery in the coming weeks before beginning a long-term recovery programme.
