Non-league side Wellingborough Town have confirmed the signing of experienced forward Nile Ranger, in what could prove to be one of the standout moves of their season.

Ranger, 33, joins the club after a productive spell with Kettering Town, where he finished as the joint top scorer in the league this season, netting six goals in ten matches.

During his time with The Poppies, he registered 18 goals across 50 total appearances, demonstrating a consistent goal-scoring touch.

The former Newcastle United striker brings significant Football League experience to the Doughboys. Ranger made 62 appearances for Newcastle between 2009 and 2013, including 25 during the club’s EFL Championship title-winning campaign in 2009–10 and 26 in the Premier League.

Following his time at St James’ Park, Ranger featured for several clubs across the English football pyramid, including Swindon Town, Blackpool, and Southend United.

Wellingborough Town officials expressed their excitement over the signing, highlighting the value of Ranger’s pedigree and experience at higher levels of the game.

“Nile is a proven talent with experience across the Football League. We’re delighted to bring him in and believe he can play a key role in our push this season,” the club said in a statement.

Ranger’s arrival is expected to bolster Wellingborough’s attacking options as they continue their campaign in the Northern Premier League.
